Fire Service Corruption

Fire Service Corruption

The first, but by no means the last, UK Fire Service management scandal has finally reached the attention of the government.

To be more precise the attention of the Northern Ireland Assembly government. But you can rest assured that this corrupt debacle, clearly identifying the corruption and the corrupt practitioners in detail and by name in a scathing 217 page report published last week by the lead Public Accounts Committee of the Assembly will be replicated throughout parts of the UK Fire Service.

It is to the absolute credit of all parties represented on this Committee that the MLAs(Members of the Legislative Assembly) simply refused to be fazed or diverted by a tissue of lies and obfuscation which is the stock in trade of many of the senior managers both uniformed and non-uniformed and politicians of Fire Authorities throughout the UK.This was a model demonstration of democratic accountability at work.

The Morning Bugler will publish this report in full shortly.

A report which will gladden the hearts of many law abiding and decent Fire-fighters of all ranks who have waited for the day when such corruption which they have witnessed at close quarters for over a decade and more which was flaunted in all its decadence with brass necked indifference before their very eyes is put to political and proper independent audit scrutiny throughout the UK.

The Editor is still evaluating the detail of this report but it is crystal clear even at this point that there are easily identifiable synergies between what has happen in the Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service and other FRS’s in the UK most notorious of  which is the Lancashire FRS.
Go Here.

The Fire Service has always been troubled throughout its long history with ‘patronage’ which came in the guises of cronyism ‘lamplighters’, or if you prefer the more accurate ‘Freemasonry’, allied of course with natural human corruption but it has always  to some degree of tact and discretion been hidden from the questioning eye thus avoiding the the current climate where such matters are no longer treated even a modicum of decency but are quite brass necked and brazen in what only can be described as pure corruption.

In the slavering stampede of self serving greed the ‘leaders’ of today have not the slightest interest in those they are supposed to be leading, indeed even considering  those under their command, or their personal morale, which ultimately is the heartbeat which drives the Service is simply an anathema to them. It puts no money in their collective fat wallets so why bother?

One hopes that finally a day of accounting will come but even that is insufficient if severe action is not taken against such corrupt malefactors, a further failure which only serves to destroy any form of formal or natural justice. Who would want to join and serve such an organisation?

The former Chief Fire Officer of Lancashire and now the UK Government Fire Adviser, Mr. Peter Holland CBE must surely be worried that this day of accounting will come and he can only hope that it comes when he is in his retirement pasture.

One thing however is certain the shroud has yet to be made which has pockets in it regardless of the insignia it might wear…
